Variegated shell ginger, also known as Shell ginger, is a moderate grower with similar leaf color as the Philodendron Brasil. It can reach heights of 3 to 6 feet and tends to spread wide. These impressive plants produce splendid, striped, green and yellow leaves. Variegated shell ginger will grow in full sun but will do best in a well-lit area without direct sunlight. Direct sunlight might cause the leaves to turn brown. The Shell Ginger name originates from the infrequent flowers that bear a resemblance to tiny, white seashells.
