A Rube Goldberg kind of weapon, but it worked...
Britain was desperate for an infantry anti-tank weapon in the early years of World War II. It would field the PIAT, a truly Rube Goldberg-device. The good news was that the PIAT, in the hands of an experienced operator, actually worked within its range envelope. This interesting Osprey Weapon Series book by Matthew Moss has the story. The narrative covers the multi-step developmental process of the PIAT, and its use in combat in many theaters of World War II despite some obvious drawbacks. The text is nicely supported by lots of period photographs and modern illustrations. Well recommended to the student of infantry weapons of the Second World War.

Impressive and readable
Lovely little book on a niche subject. Within the parameters of the osprey format the author does a splendid job. Beautifully presented and replete with interesting facts, diagrams and military anecdotes on this intriguing and formidable little 'mule' of a weapon!
