Solid HomeKit Camera
If you're looking for a HomeKit Secure Video camera that works right out of the box without having to sign up for some third-party app/service, this is the camera you'll want. I see some folks have complained about getting these installed in North American homes, but it appears Eve now supplies the adapter plate in the box from the get-go instead of having to request it separately from their website. (That said... if you bought one & it didn't include the adapter plate, you can reach out to Eve's customer service. They'll hook you up with one for free if you're in the US.)Installation was straightforward enough. Post-installation, the camera's been flawless with no downtime whatsoever. As always, a smart home with smart accessories requires good WiFi coverage. I have my home blanketed with Nest WiFi points, for reference. HomeKit is running in my home with an Apple TV 4K acting as the hub (via WiFi, not ethernet). If you are having WiFi issues, try to improve your WiFi signal where the camera is located.Build quality is also solid. It seems robust & well-designed to withstand the elements. The camera doesn't go offline even in the extreme summer heat we just dealt with in the US Southeast. That's been an issue with my Logitech Circle View Doorbell, so I'm glad to see Eve accounted for high temperature operation.Video quality could be better, but I chalk that up to a HomeKit Secure Video limitation. Until Apple allows for 1080p+ video quality on HomeKit, we're stuck with 1080p as the maximum. Video quality as-is is sufficient to make out cars, faces, animals, etc. You may miss finer details (like car license plates) at a distance due to the low 1080p resolution, however. The viewing angle is very wide, which should allow for total coverage of your driveway (as an example) from one installation point.Audio & speaker quality is also good. I can clearly hear outside noises & make out what visitors are saying from my iPhone. Audio output from the camera itself is also good, with visitors able to clearly understand what I'm saying from my iPhone.Night vision is also good, with the built-in IR doing its job in providing nighttime visibility for the camera without having to activate the floodlights. When the floodlights do activate, they're quite bright! In fact, they're brighter than my old "dumb" floodlights that were replaced with this Eve camera. Brightness can be modified on a scale via the Eve app, with an extra bright option available for short periods of time. The floodlight can be setup to turn on only when it detects motion (in general) or specific motion (from cars, animals, people, etc.). It's the standard fare that you'd expect from a HomeKit camera. You can modify the usual settings from Apple's Home app, with additional options available via the Eve app. (The Eve app does not require a separate signup/login.)Overall, I like this camera very much. I haven't tried the other outdoor HomeKit camera options (other than the aforementioned Logitech Circle View Doorbell) so I can't provide a proper comparison, but I can certainly say that I'd be happy to purchase another one of these in the future if I decide to expand my HomeKit camera coverage.Edit:As of 4/29/25, my thoughts on this camera have not changed. Everything I wrote before still applies. I'm now coming up on nearly two years of this camera and I've had zero issues to report. For those wondering if I still recommend this camera... I do!

Unreliable in HomeKit.
Just giving my personal opinion based on a very poor product experience: I purchased the Eve Outdoor Camera in January 2024 and got it installed by an electrician. The first month, it worked great. It picked up motion and turned the lights at nights, and I could do automations. The good times were short lived as I began experiencing issues with the unit: it would randomly loose connection to my wifi or HomeKit. If I had to reset my wifi internet: it lost connection. If there was a small loss of power due to weather: the camera looses connection. Contacting customer service has mostly gotten me the "press the reset button" answer. Guess what? That reset pinhole is super annoying to activate. Only needles are small enough to git in the pinhole to reset in my experience. The camera is installed about 8ft in the side of my house, so it is extremely annoying to just have to do this procedure all the time. Additional Warning: Eve is based in Germany and they DO NOT HAVE US-Customer Service Available. If you want technical help, you'll have to email them. Because of the time difference this will mean that having a simple conversation about how to reset the unit will take you several days. I am frustrated. Of course Amazon now says it's outside the return window and cannot return. Im stuck with a very pricey unit that it's not even working...go with a Ring Product instead.

A pain to install but works like a champ
It was a challenging product to install, but it works well. It integrates with my Home App, allowing me to control it with Siri. It can turn on based on commands or motion sensors, but manual intervention is required to extend its duration beyond the timer. It also has a brightness level. The connection is stable, unlike my Eve camera, which frequently disconnects. I highly recommend it.

Solid Product but difficult to install
I had an old outdoor light I replaced with the Eve Outdoor Cam, but considering I had an outlet box with an opening larger than the mounting ring, and that the mounting ring required a flat wall to attach it to with anchors & screws, I had to figure out another way to mount it to the wall.I ended up buying a raised metal black mounting plate and drilled holes in it for mounting the camera. Also had to find different screws to attached the plate to the outlet box, and then the camera to the mounting plate. All of these efforts were required because the device is delivered with only one means of mounting the camera/light to a wall. There should be other options included in the box but are not.Once I managed to get the plates and device mounted, it was very difficult to move the main wires from the camera into the mounting ring area and then to push all the wires (after connected to the camera from the house current) into the housing. It turned out to be a two person job as holding the camera in place and not breaking the plastic mounting rings in this process was necessary. (Also, the instructions don't communicate in layman's terms which wire is the ground wire etc... so I called my electrician for advice).Once hooked up and turned on, the device works really well, excellent video quality and quick responsiveness in HomeKit and the Eve home app.If you have a VPN running the video may not play ( I had the Eve Home app on my iPad with a VPN running and it would not show the video, but when turned off, it came right up as it did on my other devices that didn't have a VPN running.I have other Ring Spotlight cams around my home that are mounted hanging from underside of my home eves. I wish this device could replace them, but the Eve Outdoor Cam can only mount on a vertical wall and can't be tilted far enough to suspend from an overhang roof eve where many homes have outdoor light fixtures already in place. Ring did a better job on this, but I hope Eve's other similar ring type spotlight cameras can be made to work with HomeKit... I would get two of them immediately.
