Yellow Mountain Imports Bamboo 2-Inch Reversible 19x19/13x13 Go Game Set Board with Double Convex Melamine Stones and Bamboo Bowls - Classic Strategy Board Game (Baduk/Weiqi)

Got this bamboo Go set from Yellow Mountain Imports - my first wooden board, having used small magnetic sets in the past. The board is large, thick (2 inches) and heavy. One side is a 19×19 board and the other side is 13x13. The playing surface is smooth and flawless. Though I like the thickness, I now think the 0.8 inches board may also be a good choice and is cheaper. The stones are biconvex melamine and are a joy placing on the board. They are the right size and weight and although there are more expensive stones out there, they have a classy look and a joy to behold. They are placed in smooth large bamboo bowls that look simple but elegant. The set comes with a small bag and a booklet explaining the rules of the game. Overall, this is such a beautiful set and a joy to play with. The packaging was secure and delivery to the Philippines took about 3 weeks. I would definitely recommend this Go set to enthusiasts out there. Thanks for a great piece of work Yellow Mountain Imports and to Amazon for a great job!

I have to tell you, I was not expecting the heft the box had. I thought maybe this thing was the typical size of a chess board, but that’s probably my fault for not reading more about its dimensions. It’s actually a lot bigger and a bit bulky. Despite the heavy weight of it, it’s also really nice quality though, and well packed! Not sure where I will keep it but I do love it!

I just received this game in the mail and I opened it immediately. I owe it to everyone to do a review and attach photos. My husband and I love this game. We been reading through the book that came with it. The bowls, the pieces and the board is a masterpiece. I have it in the center of our wood table for everyone to see. A must buy. I am so pleased with this purchase. Thank you for this phenomenal game of Go.

Bought as a gift. Recipient loved it. Would have liked the “ stones” to be stone or ceramic. Not plastic. Board is very nice. Quality heft. Wooden bowls also very nice quality. Great gift!

I'm very pleased with the quality, it feels special. I will warn that (as you can see from the pictures) it is many pieces of bamboo glued together which may present a problem if you have drastic changes in temperature and humidity throughout the year. If you don't treat the wood, it will change shape and expand, possibly cracking. The care instructions recommend using food grade mineral oil to keep it from drying out. I got the thicker one and it's HEAVY. Go with the thinner one if that's going to be a problem.

I'm glad I decided to go for the two inch board when buying. I got this as a birthday gift for myself, and I love the feel of the stones and the board itself is beautiful. The whole thing comes wrapped in a felt sheet to protect it during transport or when not in use. The bag itself seems well made and the bowls fit neatly inside. Nice details: the go bowls come with velcro straps to wrap over the bowls so the lids don't come off in transport, and the bag has a thin cloth divider in the middle to help the bowls not bump/scratch one another. Definitely pleased with my purchase and will buy from this seller again.
